Speaker: Richard Painter
Richard is a native North Carolinian, whose father was a native of
Greenville, SC and his mother was a native Virginian. He is retired
from Duke Power Company where he spent his career in the construction
and maintenance of Nuclear Power Stations across the service areas of
Duke. He is still involved with Duke Energy at Oconee Nuclear Station
as a vendor in Quality Assurance activities.
He has been a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans since 1991.
He has served as the Commander of two SCV Camps in North Carolina,(Camp
1543 D.H. Hill/Richard Stough, Cornelius, NC, and Camp 1616 Robert F.
Hoke/ William J. Hoke) and is currently a member of SCV Camp 71 in Pickens,
SC. He has served Camp 71 in the Chaplain role. Richard and his wife
of 40 years reside in Central, SC.

Our Ancestors faced a tremendous challenge after the final guns had
sounded across their dear Southern homeland. The survivors of that brutal
war found that they would face a difficult time rebuilding their homes
that would be as trying as the actual war they had endured. This program
will touch on some of the issues they faced.
